Botanical Gardens

Enjoy Botanical Garden tours.  There are two on the Island that are widely known.  The one on the North Shore is Limahuli Garden, a National Tropical Botanitcal Garden.   It is near the end of the road before Ke'e Beach.  Tours require advance reservations.

Luau & Island Dancers at Fern Grotto
Be sure to take in the famous Luau with Imu Ceremony, with an optional river boat ride to the famous Fern Grotto.  Afterwards, you will see an international dance show in the International Dancing Pagent, featuring dancers from many places in the Pacific region.
There are beautiful gardens to walk through after the river boat ride and before the luau.

The nearby Princeville Hotel has Luaus two nights a week.

Equipment Rental

You can rent equipment nearby ... for snorkling, scuba diving, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, biking ... or even charter a fishing boat for your very own use ... as one of our guests did a few months back.

Rivers To Explore

Kayak the Hanalei River, winding through the taro fields is a beautiful trip, usually leaving from the Hanalei Bay.  Or, follow the Kalihiwai River from Kalihiwai bay up to the water falls.  Some guests drive down past Kapaa to the Wailua River for their kayaking adventure.

Tours
Many of our guests like the motor/sailing  tours of the Na Pali coast, departing from Hanalei.  A variety of tours also leave from the West Shore.

Take Helicopter tours over the entire island and Na Pali coast, leaving from the nearby Princeville Airport.

Horseback Riding tours are available in Princeville, including one that ends up at the waterfalls on the nearby, beautiful Kalihiwai river.

Take a self-guided tour of Guava Kai Plantation in Kilauea, home of the amazing year-round guava harvesting and processing.  They provide free tasting and an opportunity to take home some special Kauai treats.

There are weekday 2-hour guided tours up Crater Hill leaving at 10 am from Kilauea Lighthouse visitors center ... covering the special birds and vegetation of this beautiful National Wildlife Preserve.

A new type of adventure is now available from the Princeville Ranch Wagon Rides.  Tours are available that include a western style dinner on a beautiful bluff overlooking Anini Beach.

Waterfalls

Kauai is famous for its many beautiful waterfalls.  Some of them flow continuously.  Others appear after the rain clouds pass by.

Many of these beautiful falls are seen from the North Shore.  Very close to Hale Aha you can see the falls at the Kalihiwai river.  Others are the destination of hikers on the famous Kalalau Trail, along the rugged Na Pali coast.  And the falls on the Kilauea river are seen in the just-released film featuring Harrison Ford.

The famous Wailua falls and Opaekaa falls are west of the cities of Kapaa and Wailua.

Waimea Canyon
See our very own "Baby Grand Canyon of the Pacific" ... right in the middle of our island. Spectacular to see, marvelous to hike, or ... just stop and have lunch at Kokee Lodge & Information Center. Later, take a peek down the cliffs at the ocean on the Na Pali coast, below.
This mountain range reaches up to catch plenty of the moisture from the clouds passing over each day. Because of these mountains and the moisture they capture, Kauai is the island in Hawaii with the greatest number of navigable rivers, and a place where beautiful waterfalls are to be seen in many places.  You've seen many of them in the many movies taken on this special garden island.
